It’s Mitt Romney’s race to lose … again

Washington Post, by Aaron Blake Posted By: IdahoSky- Sat, 28 Jan 2012 04:42:05 GMT A lot can happen in four days, but as of today, the Florida primary and the GOP presidential race are again Mitt Romney’s to lose. After a brief diversion in the South Carolina primary, Romney is once again the clear favorite in Florida, having taken a 9'point lead in the latest Florida poll. And if he wins there, it’s hard to see where he might slip up again. Nevada’s caucuses are the next contest, held Feb. 4, and Romney won that state by nearly 40 points in 2008.

The GOP empire strikes back at Gingrich

Washington Post, by Dan Balz Posted By: Dreadnought- Sat, 28 Jan 2012 04:17:52 GMT JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The revenge of the Republican establishment is a sight to behold. From one corner to another, those who have tangled with Newt Gingrich, who feel aggrieved toward Newt Gingrich or who fear Newt Gingrich have amassed to stop him. They know how much harder it will be to do so if the former House speaker wins Florida on Tuesday. The quintessential example of establishment angst came Thursday from Bob Dole, the former Senate majority leader and 1996 Republican presidential nominee. Hours before Thursday’s GOP debate, he released a letter

Obama to the nation: Onward civilian soldiers

Washington Post, by George F. Will Posted By: Dreadnought- Sat, 28 Jan 2012 04:15:32 GMT War, said James Madison, is “the true nurse of executive aggrandizement.” Randolph Bourne, the radical essayist killed by the influenza unleashed by World War I, warned, “War is the health of the state.” Hence Barack Obama’s State of the Union hymn: Onward civilian soldiers, marching as to war. Obama, an unfettered executive wielding a swollen state, began and ended his address by celebrating the armed forces. They are not “consumed with personal ambition,” they “work together” and “focus on the mission at hand” and do not “obsess over their differences.” Americans should emulate troops

ABC News, by Chris Good Posted By: PageTurner- Sat, 28 Jan 2012 03:49:29 GMT Mitt Romney’s enemies have unleashed a torrent of attacks in Florida over Medicare fraud conspiracy committed by a company Romney helped run in the 1990s. This follows the group’s half'hour, disaster'movie'esque “King of Bain,” which detailed layoffs by companies purchased by Bain Capital, the firm Romney launched.
