US Attorney General Announces Plans To Pursue ‘Kleptocrats’

Wall Street Journal, by Samuel Rubenfeld Posted By: Scottyboy- Mon, 26 Jul 2010 18:40:07 GMT U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced an enforcement initiative targeting public corruption in foreign states during a speech to African leaders Sunday in Kampala, Uganda. The Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative will focus on combating large'scale corruption by foreign government officials and will recover money stolen by those officials intended for the people, Holder said. "As my nation's Attorney General, I have made combating corruption, generally and in the United States, a top priority," he said, according to a text of the speech posted on the Justice Department website.
