The Hill [Washington, DC], by Christina Wilkie Posted By: KarenJ1- Mon, 31 Jan 2011 23:56:03 GMT President Obama has played basketball with some of the best professional players in the world. But this weekend, an unlikely basketball star joined Obama on the court: Washington Mystics guard Alana Beard. Beard and Obama's daughters, Sasha and Malia, were part of a group that played at FBI headquarters on Sunday for about two hours, as were some of the Obama girls' school friends. No word on how the president matched up against Beard, who stands 5'11" and weighs 160 lbs.,

Washington Times, by Frank J. Gaffney Jr Posted By: KarenJ1- Mon, 31 Jan 2011 23:46:02 GMT As Egypt lurches toward the end of President Hosni Mubaraks regime, one way or another ' by an orderly transition to democratic rule (as Hillary Rodham Clinton delicately puts it), through violent overthrow or simply through the demise of the ailing 82'year'old president ' much is unclear. One thing that should not be is that the Muslim Brotherhood is our enemy, and whatever role it plays in Egypts future will be to our detriment. Such clarity is readily available because the Brotherhood (MB or, in Arabic, Ikhwan) has told us as much.

New York Sun, by Editorial Posted By: dukas- Mon, 31 Jan 2011 23:29:31 GMT Now that Mayor Bloomberg has sent investigators into Arizona to report on what he insists is lax enforcement of federal regulations at guns shows, the question that leaps out is what retaliatory investigation Arizona is going to launch in New York. The first thing that comes to mind is whether Governor Brewer, who is rising to fame for her use of state law to deal with undocumented aliens, is going to send Arizona officers into New York City to see whether the Bloomberg administration has been looking the other way in respect of undocumented aliens working in New York City.

Big Journalism, by Jeff Dunetz Posted By: Sammybenoit- Mon, 31 Jan 2011 23:22:35 GMT The George Soros funded Media Matters has been waging a months'long attack on Glenn Beck trying to brand the commentator as a card carrying anti'Semite. Perhaps before making false charges against Beck, Media Matters should examine its own house of cards. In a column published today on Media Matters political correction site, MJ Rosenberg claimed that the current Egyptian crisis was the fault of AIPAC and the Israel Lobby. For those of you who have lived on a different planet till today, Israel Lobby is a polite way of saying Jews.

Salon Magazine, by Glenn W. LaFantasie Posted By: Bonnie Grey Eyes- Mon, 31 Jan 2011 23:21:50 GMT History does not repeat itself, although sometimes echoes of the past seem remarkably familiar to us. Each event in history is, however, unique, just as every person is. (Snip) Lately, Ive been trying to put Sarah Palin into a historical context. Its not easy to do. She continues to attract public and media attention, even while her national approval ratings keep falling. Nevertheless, the media and her most fervent supporters are convinced (or hopeful) that shell make a run for the presidency in 2012. If that is indeed whats she planning, I think we must admit that she is approaching

The Hill [Washington, DC], by Jordy Yager Posted By: KarenJ1- Mon, 31 Jan 2011 23:15:13 GMT Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano issued a stern warning to Mexican drug cartels on Monday as she vowed to push Congress to revamp U.S. immigration laws. Napolitano, speaking at the University of Texas at El Paso, said the southern U.S. border has never been more secure than in recent years and public officials who argue otherwise do so to score political points. Assessing the number of seizures of illegal drugs, weapons and cash as well as the increasing number of deported criminals who had been in the United States illegally,

Telegraph [UK], by James Kirkup Posted By: Attercliffe- Mon, 31 Jan 2011 22:47:17 GMT Iran could develop a nuclear weapon as soon as 2012, Liam Fox has said. The West should act in accordance with that timeline, the British Defence Secretary said. In the House of Commons, Dr Fox was asked about the assessment of Meir Dagan, the former Israeli intelligence chief, that Iran will be unable to develop a working nuclear weapon until 2015. Dr Fox, a well'known hawk on Iran, said the former Mossad chief was too optimistic. He told MPs that the West should plan on the basis that Tehran is much closer to a working weapon.

Telegraph [UK], by Daniel Hannan Posted By: Attercliffe- Mon, 31 Jan 2011 22:39:55 GMT I once read a mildly funny book called Yes, but is it good for the Jews? It was a prolonged in'joke, a reference to the way in which almost anything can be reckoned on a scale of Judaeophilia (Eurovision Song Contest good, Desperate Housewives bad; Scarlett Johanssen good, Joaquin Phoenix bad, etc). The early consensus seems to be that the democratic unrest in Egypt is Not Good for the Jews: that a sudden change of regime could threaten Egypts correct, if hardly affectionate, relationship with Israel. By an extension of the same reasoning, Arab revolts are deemed to be

Big Journalism, by Andrew Breitbart Posted By: DW626- Mon, 31 Jan 2011 22:38:55 GMT Bob Woodruff is a reporter for ABC News who focuses on environmental issues. Woodruffs career is the sort which convinces Americans to invest their trust in his reporting. Unfortunately, Big Journalism has learned that Mr. Woodruff has been doing much more than objectively reporting on environmental issues. Woodruff has been working with an environmental advocacy group, an action in direct violation of ABC News journalistic guidelines. According to ABC News, Mr. Woodruffs actions were in violation of the companys standards policies and ABC will take appropriate disciplinary action for his not reporting his advocacy activities to them.

Telegraph [UK], by Christopher Hope & Robert Winnett Posted By: Attercliffe- Mon, 31 Jan 2011 22:33:02 GMT A Foreign Office minister sent Libyan officials detailed legal advice on how to use Abdelbaset al'Megrahis cancer diagnosis to ensure he was released from a Scottish prison on compassionate grounds. The Duke of York is also said to have played a behind'the'scenes role in encouraging the terrorists release. The Libyans closely followed the advice which led to the controversial release of Megrahi who was convicted of the murder of 270 passengers on Pan Am Flight 103 within months of the Foreign Offices secret intervention. The disclosure seriously undermines British Government claims that is was
