Fort Worth Star'Telegram, by Jessamy Brown Posted By: hadass23- Thu, 09 Feb 2012 16:03:21 GMT After 14 years of teaching high school algebra, Michele Parker has gone back to school. Parker, 43, is working on a Master of Business Administration degree to prepare for a new career in accounting and has notified the Fort Worth district that next school year will be her last. "I love teaching. I love the kids," said Parker, who teaches ninth grade at Trimble Technical High School. "But they pile more on us and give us fewer resources to do it with. It's just not fun anymore."

New York Post, by John Crudele Posted By: JoniTx- Thu, 09 Feb 2012 15:57:21 GMT TENT CITY, NJ Each day the residents of this tent community do something that you might consider odd: they go downtown in an old donated school bus and hand out food to people they call the poor. The poor! Really? Arent people who live in the woods in donated tents the poor? One of those on the bus recently was Angelo V., who didnt want his last name used. He was a mason until you already know the story the construction industry went bust. Angelo has gotten work recently sorting recyclable garbage for Waste Management

Telegraph [UK], by Janet Daley Posted By: KarenJ1- Thu, 09 Feb 2012 15:55:31 GMT A quite unexpected hurricane has hit the Obama campaign ship. The President has done what is, on the face of it, a startlingly foolhardy thing. He has provoked outrage in the Catholic Church and thus in that huge US constituency now larger than ever due to a vast increase in the Hispanic community which takes its Roman Catholic faith very seriously. One of the provisions of Obamacare's Affordable Care Act which obliges employers to provide mandatory health insurance, is that such policies must cover the provision of contraceptive services.

Townhall, by Guy Benson Posted By: KarenJ1- Thu, 09 Feb 2012 15:50:38 GMT President Obama is unpopular. His "signature accomplishment" is widely despised, his top economic initiative has flopped, and his re'election prospects are mixed, at best. Unable to run on a record of failure, Obama is gearing up for an enduringly negative and blame'filled 2012 campaign. A critical element of this effort will be a persistent, deeply ugly push by the president's allies to paint his critics as racists. We saw some of this four years ago, of course, but then'candidate Obama had strong political headwinds and Operation HopenChange working in his favor in 2008.

Townhall, by Katie Pavlich Posted By: KarenJ1- Thu, 09 Feb 2012 15:41:57 GMT But don't worry folks, they aren't really an organization dedication to abortion. From the Susan B. Anthony list: The horrific, anti'Life remarks from Planned Parenthood directors were on full display as they celebrated the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. In an interview earlier this week, Angie Murie, executive director of Planned Parenthood Waterloo Region in Canada, was asked about sex'selection abortions. She said: I wrestle with gender'based abortion more than any other reason [for having an abortion]...From a macro perspective, I dont think it is a good idea for us to be eliminating women.

Jerusalem Post (Israel), by Seth J. Frantzman Posted By: Ripper1- Thu, 09 Feb 2012 15:38:06 GMT Your excellency, dear Dr. [Bouthaina] Shaaban I hope this letter finds you well. Please be assured of my warmest fraternal greetings always. I am writing on behalf of Viva Palestina whose world'wide family of solidarity organizations... will soon be setting out for besieged Gaza. This fawning introduction might sound innocuous enough, if it were not for the fact that it was e'mailed to the special adviser to Syrian President Bashar Assad by a former British MP only three months after he left office in 2010. George Galloways obsequious verbosity is now posted online for all to see.

Philadelphia Inquirer, by Matt Katz Posted By: JoniTx- Thu, 09 Feb 2012 15:37:23 GMT WESTFIELD ' Gov. Christie today called for the resignation of a leader of the state's largest teacher's union in the wake of the union leader's seemingly dismissive remark about poor children in failing school districts. "Life's not always fair," said New Jersey Education Association executive director Vincent Giordano on a program that aired earlier this week on NJTV (see video below). (Snip)The comment came when Giordano was asked about the proposed Opportunity Scholarship Act, which would provide tax breaks to companies that fund scholarships so poor children in failing districts can matriculate elsewhere.

Washington Examiner, by Paul Bedard Posted By: KarenJ1- Thu, 09 Feb 2012 15:35:05 GMT Armed with a new weapon to beat President Obama and congressional Democrats with, Republicans are aggressively building a campaign to use the administrations demand that religious institutions provide birth control to employees against them. The National Republican Congressional Committee, for example, is alerting supporters in a fundraising email that the presidents decision is another abuse of his power. The Obama administration's decision to trample on the religious liberty of Christian charities ' forcing them to provide free birth control ' is a frightening sign of how far Democrats will go to impose their government takeover of health care.

Daily Caller, by John Samples Posted By: garnet- Thu, 09 Feb 2012 15:34:42 GMT Rick Santorum had a somewhat super Tuesday on February 7th. He won all three Republican presidential primaries, thereby reviving a campaign that had failed to follow up on his victory in Iowa. Santorum could become the sole alternative to Romney for the Republican nomination. If that happens, he could become the GOP nominee in 2012. Should libertarians vote for him? Heres my (broad) definition of a libertarian. A libertarian cares about individual liberty and thus limited government. Those concerns lead to further commitments to free markets in economics, moral pluralism in culture, and realism and restraint in foreign policy.

The Hill [Washington, DC], by Vicki Needham Posted By: KarenJ1- Thu, 09 Feb 2012 15:31:07 GMT Federal and state officials are set to announce an agreement with the nation's biggest banks over alleged foreclosure abuses. Under the settlement, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Citigroup and Ally Financial will pay about $26 billion to cover refinancing costs for homeowners as well as giving them checks to pay them back for bad foreclosure practices. The investigation began in late 2010 over so'called robo'signing, a practice where lenders signed off on foreclosures without thoroughly examining the contents and verifying the information.
