The Hill [Washington, DC], by Pete Kasperowicz Posted By: KarenJ1- Mon, 21 May 2012 16:42:56 GMT Two senior Senate Republicans on Monday blasted plans by judges in the Ninth Circuit to hold a conference in Hawaii this August that they said could run up a tab of $1 million or more, and includes a schedule of sport fishing, yoga, surfing lessons, and Zumba dancing lessons. Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Chuck Grassley (R'Iowa) and Budget Committee ranking member Jeff Sessions (R'Ala.) last week wrote to Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Chief Judge Alex Kozinski to warn that the Hawaii meeting does not appear to fit with the Ninth Circuit's own opinion

Mediaite, by Alex Alvarez Posted By: JoniTx- Mon, 21 May 2012 16:39:37 GMT On Monday, the folks at Morning Joe had a laugh over Newark mayor Cory Bookers recent Meet the Press comments and his subsequent backtracking video over both sides focus on what he referred to as nauseating crap. Heres what Booker had originally said on Meet the Press: This kind of stuff is nauseating to me on both sides. Its nauseating to the American public. Enough is enough. Stop attacking private equity, stop attacking Jeremiah Wright. This stuff has got to stop, because what it does is it undermines, to me, what this country should be focused on.

Real Clear Politics, by Staff Posted By: KarenJ1- Mon, 21 May 2012 16:36:04 GMT MSNBC host Melissa Harris'Perry says due to his "interracial heritage" President Obama has "access to white privilege." However, Harris'Perry says Obama has chosen not to use such "privilege." Conversely, Harris'Perry says the same issue of "white privilege" is a major political liability for Mitt Romney. Perry says Romney has chosen to embrace it and "is operating from privilege." "Character is a political liability for Governor Romney and his opponents know it. It's not a liability in the way that character was such an open point of attack for, say, President Bill Clinton.

Philadelphia Inquirer, by Will Bunch Posted By: JoniTx- Mon, 21 May 2012 16:33:41 GMT In February, Radhika Sainath flew from New York City to Bahrain with the idea of reporting live Twitter updates on the growing turmoil in the streets of the small kingdom in the oil'rich Persian Gulf, where pro'democracy marchers and security forces have clashed since the so'called Arab Spring. In the couple of days before the American attorney was tear'gassed, arrested, tossed in jail for 11 hours, ordered deported and then thrown on a London'bound plane where she was struck in the back of the head and then handcuffed, Sainath said there were two things Bahrainis wanted to know

The Hill [Washington, DC], by Alexander Bolton Posted By: KarenJ1- Mon, 21 May 2012 16:24:17 GMT Jeb Bushs name keeps floating up in discussions about candidates to run on the ticket with Mitt Romney, despite Bushs efforts to douse the talk. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R'S.C.) says Bush would most help Romney. Hed be an outstanding pick. Its up to Gov. Romney but if I had to recommend a single person it would be Jeb, Graham told The Hill. Graham urged his party to unify behind Romney last month after Rick Santorum exited the GOP presidential primary. Graham is a close friend of Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), the 2008 Republican presidential nominee.

Washington Post, by Krissah Thompson Posted By: KarenJ1- Mon, 21 May 2012 16:19:22 GMT As the presidential campaign ramped up earlier this year, Michelle Obama presented poet Maya Angelou with an award and a hug at the BET Honors award show. Two days later, she danced on an episode of iCarly, a tweens sitcom. In late January, the first lady began a tour of the late'night television circuit that culminated in mid'April with a visit to Stephen Colberts show to promote her work with military families. She has appeared on the talk show Ellen twice this year, doing push'ups and joking about her high school photo, and made a cameo on

FrontPage Magazine, by Caroline Glick Posted By: Judy W.- Mon, 21 May 2012 16:18:46 GMT Two weeks ago, US Congressman Joe Walsh published an op'ed in the The Washington Times in which he called for the US and Israel to abandon the two'state solution. After running through the record of Palestinian duplicity, failed governance, terrorism and bad faith, he called for Israel to apply its sovereignty to Judea and Samaria. In his words, Israel should adopt the only solution that will bring true peace to the Middle East: a single Israeli state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. Israel is the only country in the region dedicated to peace

American Thinker, by Jack Kemp Posted By: Judy W.- Mon, 21 May 2012 16:15:16 GMT Barack Obama has been on so many television shows, from David Letterman's and Jay Leno's programs to The View and a host of others, one can hardly believe there is a program he would scrupulously avoid. But there appears to be one. The program I'd like to see Pres. Obama appear on is the NBC program called Who Do You Think You Are? that is sponsored, in significant part, by Ancestry.com. For those of you unfamiliar with this show, this is the American version of a BBC program in which one famous show business personality

Los Angeles Times, by Dan Weikel Posted By: earlybird- Mon, 21 May 2012 15:52:31 GMT State safety regulators have ordered stringent inspections of a downtown Los Angeles rail junction for the newly opened Expo Line because of a serious design flaw that poses an increased risk of train derailments. Officials of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority insist the intersection of the region's newest light rail service and the older Long Beach Blue Line at Washington Boulevard and Flower Street is safe for now because of small modifications to the tracks. But the junction several blocks south of the multilevel underground Metro Center station at 7th and Figueroa has presented significant safety

Capital'Journal [Topeka,KS], by Tim Carpenter Posted By: Pluperfect- Mon, 21 May 2012 15:29:19 GMT Ted Cruz is seeking the Republican nomination in Texas for a seat in the U.S. Senate. How do I know this? Former sports reporter, Wasilla mayor, Alaska governor, Bridge to Nowhere fan, GOP vice presidential candidate, bear hunter, television personality, author and political endorsement specialist Sarah Palin called with a tip that Cruz was the man for the GOP. Thank goodness the Cruz campaign directed a robocall to my office of the Topeka Capital'Journal. Getting meaningful political advice from Palin was a treat. "Hello, Texas!" she blasted into my ear. "I'm Sarah Palin."
